The Man Behind the Magic
Welcome to my extraordinary world of magic! I'm thrilled to have you join me on this incredible journey. I’m Robbie, and magic has been my lifelong passion.
From the tender age of 4, my earliest memory, I was mesmerized by the enchantment of card magic and mind-boggling coin tricks. What started off with a very simple “is this your card” has grown into the fabulous illusion, stage, comedy and mind reading entertainment show’s i so very proudly perform today!
As a young magician, I was on a relentless quest for magic sets. I would just “vanish” (like what i did there?) when at car boot sales, causing panic through my parents. I would be sniffing out hidden gems amidst thousands of objects. Magic sets before anyone else got to them. “reserving” them until mum or dad got there. It wasn’t easy though, learning magic that way. I mean them sets never had instructions and the cards always had a bite or two taken out of them. Who was that weird kid eating bits from magic sets?!?!?
Throughout my childhood, I proudly wore the titles of the "annoying magic boy" and the "ADHD kid who wouldn't rest until you selected a mind-blowing card." But as I ventured out into the vast world, I knew it was time to unleash my magic on a grand scale. At that’s point, you have to prove that magic works as a career because if it doesn’t pay the bills by the time you’re 25, you just look like a mad man.
One unforgettable day, I found myself in a room with "Les," our school's caretaker turned career advisor. I was 15 years old and about to launch into the big big world. Despite Les knowing my predicted grades which were less than stellar, and me myself predicting them even more accurately because 1. I was a magician, and 2. I knew i had no intentions what-so-ever of even attending the exams, that alone writing 4 paragraphs explaining why an indirect cause of the reason behind the way we say “cheeses” is because of how Shakespeare’s Macbeth took hath forth unto battle tho trusty algebra, therefore x being the cause of the root of pi which is truly why MC = bombs that are squared. Or something.
I fearlessly declared my dream of becoming a magician. The smirk and giggle that escaped Les's lips only fueled my determination. “Let’s be realistic Evan, he said. You still have a chance here, come on, don’t mess it up”… It was a pivotal moment, igniting a fire within me to prove that dreams, no matter how audacious, have the power to defy expectations.
When I won my very first prestigious award for my spellbinding performances, what was the first thing I did? Was it call my family? Oh no! I made sure to tag Les in a Facebook post, reminding him and the world that you should never underestimate the magic within a child's dreams.
Sure, every young boy dreams of becoming an astronaut and soaring into space on a rocket. But let's not forget that even the legendary Neil Armstrong was once a wide-eyed 7-year-old with stars in his eyes! who looked up to the moon and told his mother “i want to be a spaceman” The power of dreams knows no bounds.
So here's to Les, the unintentional motivator who lit the spark within me. Welcome to my world, where magic comes alive, dreams take flight, and possibilities are endless.
